I need a new camera, there’s no question about it. But I’m not going to get one any time soon, so I just have to make do with what I have. In a way, it’s an art project in itself, like when photographers give disposable cameras to kids and let them shoot what they want. Low-Fi, that is to say.
I’ve been thinking of shooting everything in black-and-white. That’s what I started with, years ago, and for almost everything it looks better. Most of New York is black-and-white anyway. People, clothes, buildings. Color complicates things. It adds false emotion. Black-and-white has depth. It’s the thinking person’s two-dimensional reality.
